Then the Nikon 55-300mm I linked above would be perfect. You can get fairly close to document insects without going full blown macro. c

Only thing is, they don't need an ultra wide angle. It's a lens for outdoor shooting/recording wildlife. The extra 30mm of reach on the long end will be more beneficial to their needs than the extra...

I would recommend not getting anything for lighting if they're shooting during daylight. If they're shooting at night, and their not trying to make award winning photography, using the pop-up flash...
